Fellowships and Scholarships

There are numerous fellowships and scholarships available to undergraduate mathematics majors, and Notre Dame students have had particular success in winning these awards (see here for more information). While there is great prestige associated with winning one of these awards, the process of applying is also a very worthwhile one, and is noted with appreciation by graduate admissions committees.

  • For undergraduate work:
    • Goldwater Scholarship: awarded each spring, for those who will be either juniors or seniors the next academic year. Deadline end of January. All SUMR students are expected to apply for this scholarship.
  • For graduate work abroad:
    • Churchill Scholarship: awarded to seniors, for postgraduate work at University of Cambridge. Deadline early November.
    • Fulbright Grant: awarded to seniors, for postgraduate work at a foreign university. Deadline early October.
    • Gates Scholarship: awarded to seniors, for postgraduate work at University of Cambridge. Deadline early October.
    • Marshall Scholarship: awarded to seniors, for postgraduate work in the UK. Deadline early October.
    • Mitchell Scholarship: awarded to seniors, for postgraduate work in Ireland. Deadline early October.
    • Rhodes Scholarship: awarded to seniors, for postgraduate work at University of Oxford. Deadline early October.
