2025 Fellow of the AWM: Katrina Barron

Katrina Barron, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, has been named to the 2025 class of Fellows of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM). The AWM Fellows Program recognizes members who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the support and advancement of women in the mathematical sciences, consistent with the AWM mission “to create a community in which women and girls can thrive in their mathematical endeavors, and to promote equitable opportunity and treatment of women and others of marginalized genders and gender identities across the mathematical sciences.”
 
Professor Barron was honored for her tireless advocacy for gender equality, mentorship of women in algebra, representation theory, and mathematical physics, and active participation and leadership in initiatives aimed at supporting women in mathematics. She, along with all the members of the 2025 Class of AWM Fellows, will be recognized during the AWM Reception, January 10, 2025, 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm, at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Seattle, WA.
