Four department alumni have recently received NSF LEAPS-MPS awards. These substantial awards help launch the careers of pre-tenure faculty in Mathematical and Physical Sciences at institutions that do not traditionally receive significant amounts of NSF funding. Alexander Diaz-Lopez (2016 PhD, advisor Matthew Dyer) is currently at Villanova. John Holmes (2015 PhD, advisor Alex Himonas) is currently at Ohio State. MurphyKate Montee (class of 2013) is currently at Carleton College. Laura Murray (2020 Phd, advisor Stephan Stolz) is currently at Providence College.
The four met and had a mini Notre Dame reunion at a recent NSF workshop for new and recent PIs. Pictured at that meeting (from left to right) is Laura, John and Alexander.
