The Mean Value Theorem
Abstract: The Mean Value Theorem (MVT) is a fundamental result in Calculus with deep implica- tions in later parts of the course. Roughly speaking, the Mean Value Theorem relates the average rate of change of a differentiable function f over an interval with its derivative f′. In this small lecture, we will state the MVT and a special case called Rolle’s Theorem, and work through some examples.
