### Research Experience for Undergraduates

REUs are typically eight- to ten-week summer research programs. Every year about two dozen universities across the country run an REU. Participants get first-hand experience of how mathematical research works, get a broader exposure to the world of mathematics than is obtained from course work alone, and usually have a lot of fun!

There are also a number of summer schools that have tutorials and workshops aimed towards undergraduates. Here are links to some information:

- Notre Dame's Center for Mathematics runs a themed program of events every summer, with a one-week undergraduate workshop.
- The Park City Math Institute has a program for undergraduates each summer.
