The Navier-Stokes Clay Millenium Problem
Abstract: In this talk I will discuss recent progress on finite-time singularity formation for the Navier-Stokes equations, situated within the context of similar results for the Euler equations and for other model problems. I will aim much of the talk at a general mathematical audience (no technical knowledge on these equations will be assumed), focusing on the motivation behind these problems and the general strategies used to attack them. Finally, I will try to give some more in-depth analysis of the paper released by Open AI claiming to resolve the Navier-Stokes Clay Millenium problem.
