The Hopf product conjecture
Abstract: The Hopf product conjecture is a classical open problem in differential geometry, asking whether a metric with strictly positive curvature can exist on the product of two 2-spheres. Recently, Brendle–Hung gave a positive answer to this question. In this talk, we will survey the history of this conjecture and sketch the main ideas behind their proof.
