To enhance interdisciplinary collaboration and accelerate discovery, groundbreaking centers on the campus bring together experts from different mathematical areas as well as those in fields that depend on mathematics.
Centers run conferences and colloquium series that bring together experts from across the campus and beyond to enhance collaboration. They also sponsor graduate and undergraduate fellowships to encourage more scholarships in the field.
Centers focused on Mathematics include:
- Center for Mathematics @ Notre Dame, which aims to promote and stimulate mathematical research, to communicate the power, beauty and ubiquity of mathematics, and to provide growth opportunities to students dedicated to mathematics.
- The Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Biocomplexity, which melds physical, mathematical and computational approaches with those of modern biology to gain quantitative and predictive understandings.
- The Mathematical and Computational Biology Group, which aims to develop comprehensive multiscale models of cell and tissue organization and their relation to development.
