Undergraduate Awards 2008:

Senior G.E. Prize for Honors Mathematics Majors (A monetary gift from the General Electric Foundation, awarded to senior honors major in the Department of Mathematics who, in the opinion of the members of the faculty, excelled in mathematics in the senior year) 2008 winners: Adam Boocher and Ben Fehrmann

Senior GE Prize for Mathematics Majors (A monetary gift from the General Electric Foundation, awarded to senior major in the Department of Mathematics who, in the opinion of the members of the faculty, excelled in mathematics in the senior year) 2008 winner: Jason Wittenbach

Aumann Prize for First Year Students in Mathematics (A prize given by Ms. Monika Caradonna in honor of her father, Professor Georg Aumann, awarded competitively to a first year honors mathematics student on the basis of recommendations made by the faculty.) 2008 winners: John Pardo and Brooks Smith

Norman and Beatrice Haaser Mathematics Scholarships (Scholarships, made possible by the generosity of the late Professor and Mrs. Haaser, awarded to worthy, needy students majoring in mathematics) 2008 winners: Jack Enyeart, Samuel Hovland and Peter Kelly

J & C Sophomore Mathematics Award Exemplary performance in Mathematics classes by a non-honors Math major sophomore Female or Minority student. ("Minority" means African American, Asian, Hispanic, Native American). 2008 winner: Sarah Pastorek

George Kolettis Award in Mathematics (An award established by friends of the late Professor George Kolettis, for a graduating senior who excelled in mathematics and contributed notably to the esprit de corps of the mathematics student body. 2008 winner: Adam Boocher

R. Catesby Taliaferro Prize Competition (A prize established by former students, colleagues and friends of Dr. Taliaferro. This is an essay oriented prize.) 2008 winner: 1st Place:  Christine Ritten, 2nd Place:  Andrew McConvey, Daniel Moeller and Luke Ricci

Robert P. Balles University of Notre Dame Mathematics Scholar.  Robert P. Balles is a retired California Community College mathematics professor, retired businessman, and private investor. His mission is to recognize and reward the most outstanding mathematics majors entering their senior year at the University of Notre Dame.  2008 winners:  Honors: Adam Boocher, Math Major: Julie Lederer
